MESSAGE FROM THE BRANCH COUNSELLOR

	It is my pride and pleasure to inform you that the student branch of the IEEE at Birla Institute 
of  Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, is organising UNNAYAN 2001 - a NATIONAL LEVEL TECHNOFEST from 
5 - 7th of October 2001.

The Birla Institute of Technology is the premier Technical Institute in the state of Jharkhand. BIT is in the
 forefront of Research and Development in fields as diverse as Space Research, Flexible Manufacturing
Systems, Fiber Optic Communications and Plasma Technology. In particular, the laboratories associated
 with Fiber Optics, Plasma & Rocketry are among the best in South Asia.	

During UNNAYAN, students from several technical institutes across the country will get a unique 
opportunity to interact with the professionals who are pushing the limits of technological advancement
 world wide. We have dreams and the capacity to make them come true. What we lack is the wherewith
al to give wings to our endeavor.  It is in this regard that we look forward to you and your esteemed 
organization, knowing that you will appreciate being a part of our effort to promote technical thought
 and enable unexposed genius to come to the fore. 

In the past, we have organized UNNAYAN '97 (21 - 23rd of February, 1997) and UNNAYAN '99
 (1 - 3rd October, 1999). Luminaries who have graced these festivals include Professor Amitabh Ghosh
 (Director IIT, Kharagpur), Professor Balakrishnan (IISc. Bangalore), Professor S C Dutta Roy (IIT Delhi),
 Dr. B P Sinha and Professor Shanker Pal (ISI Calcutta). This time our guest list includes Dr Amol 
Chakarborty (Scientist-H DRDL,DRDO Hydrabad), Dr D.P Agarwal (Director IIIT Gawliar), Proff. Ranjan 
Ghosh (IIM Calcutta) and Dr Ashok Chandra (Deputy Adviser Wireless DoT).

We look forward to your co-operation and assistance in making this event a grand success. On our 
part, we promise you that your help, financial or otherwise will be duly acknowledged throughout the
fest.
